The History Behind Henry's Fork Anglers

Mike and Sheralee back in 1977

Founded in 1976 by Mike and Sheralee Lawson, Henry’s Fork Anglers started as a small flytying business. With the encouragement of friends, colleagues, and supported by Sheralee’s father, they opened a small log built fly shop on Highway 20, directly across from the legendary Henry’s Fork of the Snake River at Last Chance, Idaho. The shop grew from a modest space with a secondhand sign and hand-crank cash register to a spacious log structure in 2006.

Henry's Fork Anglers has been instrumental in establishing the Henry's Fork as a premier fly fishing destination. We have fostered a welcoming community for anglers of all levels, sharing our passion for fly fishing and love for the waters we love. We have always been a strong advocate for conservation, working to protect the river and its surrounding environment. Mike is a founding member of the Henry’s Fork Foundation. We also support the Teton Regional Land Trust, Friends of the Teton River and other organizations that focus on protecting our precious resources. We are dedicated to sharing our knowledge and helping others become skilled and responsible anglers.

In 1999 Mark Rockefeller became the owner of Henry’s Fork Anglers where Mike and Sheralee continued to manage the business. Their two sons, Shaun and Chris, worked as store associates and fishing guides. Shaun’s love for fly fishing eventually took him to Montana where he continues to work in the fly fishing industry. Chris became the general manager after Mike stepped down to an advisory position. Sheralee continues to work as our merchandising manager.

Henry's Fork Anglers continues to be a leading fly shop and guide service, attracting anglers from around the world. We are located in the center of some of the best trout fishing in the world. We are legally licensed to guide on the Henry’s Fork, Teton, South Fork of the Snake and Henry’s Lake as well as all of the rivers and lakes in Montana and Yellowstone National Park. We are the only vendor selling fishing licenses in Idaho, Montana and Yellowstone Park. Our fly fishing guides are legendary. Some of them have been with us for more than 40 years.

We remain committed to our core values, preserving the heritage of fly fishing while embracing innovation and sustainability. Henry's Fork Anglers’ mission is to provide exceptional fly fishing experiences by offering premium gear, expert guidance, and educational resources, while fostering a deep respect for the natural environment and preserving the heritage of fly fishing.
