The Story of Henry's Fork Anglers

Mike and Sheralee Lawson, lifelong residents of the Henry’s Fork valley, grew up in a place rich with history and natural beauty. Mike, the son of a Union Pacific Railroad worker, and Sheralee, raised on a potato farm, both graduated from Sugar Salem High School and later earned degrees from Brigham Young University. Though not high school sweethearts, they began dating during Mike’s senior year in college.

After marrying, the Lawsons started a small fly-tying business to supplement Mike’s income as an industrial arts teacher. Their meticulously crafted flies gained recognition from prominent fly shops nationwide. In 1976, with the encouragement of Sheralee’s father, Frank Rydalch, they opened Henry’s Fork Anglers near the famed Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Frank built the original log fly shop, and the family worked tirelessly to make it a success. Over the years, the shop expanded from its humble beginnings—complete with a secondhand sign and hand-crank cash register—to a spacious log structure in 2006.
